Sethuthuthu Tours & Safaris

INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND:

The word Sethuthuthu means “motor bike’’ in the Sesotho Language. The idea of these Tours on Quad Bikes (ATV’s All terrain vehicles) was born when a couple of farmers, owners of scenic places, some with historical value got together and decided to open up their farms to the public for Tourism purposes. The tours are presented in a Conservancy area and a National Park

All Tours will be accompanied by guides who will supply as much information as possible on the areas being travelled through. Tours are conducted by qualified registered guides in possession of  NQF2 to NQF4 to FGASA Certificates. We also carry passenger liability insurance.

These tours are for the Nature Lover and are definitely not for those who would like to speed and do obstacles at a flying pace.

Prior to any Tour departs a practising in session will take place to make sure that you do understand the handling of the bike.

THE 1 HOUR 30 MINUTES TOUR:

We have an obstacle course where you will be given instruction on how to handle your ATV on steep declines as well as sharp uphills. As you are so close to nature your attention will be drawn to many indigenous plants as well as their value to the old pioneers who went through this area during 1837. You will also be informed on the different layers of Sandstone formations as well as explanations given on Geology as far as possible. Places will be visited where the early Settlers (Voortrekkers) settled during 1837/8. You will also be shown the ruins of the early inhabitants who lived in this area about 1790/1820 until most of them have been murdered during the time of the Great Defiqane when both Tsjaka and Mizilikazi waged their empire wars in this area. During these wars 28 Sotho speaking tribes were wiped from the face of South Africa.
